ABOUT LAUREN ROSE: Lauren has always been a dabbler. She began as a sketcher, a painter, a scrap-booker. When Lauren was a senior in college, she started working in a local antique shop. It was there that she discovered the art of jewelry making and designing. She started to appreciate antique jewelry and its unsurpassed display of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and sheer beauty. This jewelry had undoubtedly captured her heart…
As time went on, she realized that her design aesthetic aligned quite well with jewelry from turn of the century, so she began obsessively studying this era of jewels; she went into Barnes and Noble and sifted through any resource she could get her hands on, finding any picture or history she could about this jewelry. Once all this knowledge sunk in, Lauren then moved to repairing old, broken pieces of jewelry and giving them a new life. Eventually this grew tiresome so Lauren began designing her own unique necklaces that she sold in her muse of an antique shop and some other local boutiques. Remarkably, she was and still is completely self-taught: incorporating techniques through a laborious process of trial and error. Despite her love of working with brass and crystal, her ambition is to eventually design fine jewelry.
Though her designs represent her passion for everything vintage, Lauren is always attempting to push the envelope. Her mind is always wandering and thinking of ways to improve or change. Lauren’s design links the late 1800s with a new era of “traditional” modernism. Her designs are seemingly organic and inspired often times by striking color combinations… many found in nature and others found only in the imagination.
HER COMPANY: Lauren Rose Design was founded by Lauren Rose Thomann. This company gives her the ability to offer finished jewelry for sale either on a retail or wholesale level. As her company expands, vintage jewels as well as findings are also being offered for sale. Finally, Lauren sells a wide assortment of Antique Fine Jewelry and Baubles on the internet, many of which she has come across on her travels.
“My brain, inspiration, and passion are wrapped up in every piece of jewelry and every jewel I sell. I want to share the feeling, make my own history and help others find theirs.” –Lauren Rose
